ABOUT HEEL
The Housing and Educational Equity Lab is a research lab at Boston College Lynch School of Education and Human Development. HEEL envisions a society where all kids have access to a safe place to live and an enriching learning community that enables them to thrive.
HEEL pursues its vision in three ways:
- Conducting original research that analyzes how public institutions (school districts, charter schools, public housing authorities, and homeless service agencies) collaborate with community partners to best support K12 students and their families’ academic and physiological needs.
- Producing policy briefs, reports, and presentations designed to raise awareness of student homelessness and provide system leaders and service providers with strategies to better serve youth impacted by housing insecurity or homelessness.
- Curating relevant content (academic articles, reports, news articles, videos) that uplifts relevant academic content, policies, or practices that are enabling the success of children impacted by homelessness.
OUR TEAM
The HEEL team is comprised of academic researchers, practitioners, and people with lived expertise in issues concerning housing instability and educational inequities.
